I think the Cirrus came out just slightly ahead of the Spectralis. We had early
access to both. We had our Cirrus about 4-6 months prior to getting our
Spectralis which if I remember correctly, (and Tim Steffen can correct me on
this since he installed it) we had the fourth commercial unit in the US. Of
course all of this is US, so if it was commercially available somewhere else on
the planet, I wouldn't know.

Hi Tim,
here are my recollections:

Rodenstock SLO was just before my time. I started to work in Ophthalmology in
1988. So, it was probably in 1986 or 1987.

Heidelberg HRT was in 1991

Heidelberg HRA with ICGA was in 1994/5

Heidelberg HRA with FA/ICG was 1998

Zeiss time-domain OCT1 was in 1996/7

Zeiss Stratus 3000 was in 2002

Heidelberg Spectralis SD-OCT with SLO was in 2006

First commercial time-domain OCT (1995?)

Stratus (2002?)

First Spectral domain OCT (2006?)
