I use the Opko SLO OCT microperimetry. It takes 2-3 minutes to complete a test. It requires fairly good media for the retina vessel tracking system to work, or it will pause and ask for a reset of fixation, On people with marginal view, this can be frustrating . People who can't fixate at all can skew the results, and cause the timeout, also. It does autotrack the retina well in retinas it can see well, and with fairly good fixation ability of the patient. It does document the fixation area, good for seeing which areas of the fovea see and which don't. As a technology, it is in it's infancy, really, and needs some evolution. The micro perimetry feature is a big reason we chose this unit, though, vs the Cirrus. We are happy with it overall. We don't use the Micro perimetry function often; it roughly compares to a 10-2 HVF, but is more specific and accurate. I would recommend it. As with any of these devices, however, it doesn't work for every patient's situation, and like the OCT, scanning the ones who need it the most is where it has the most difficulty. William L.
