John,

I was the just being facetious about it being the end of our profession.  
Denice has eloquently discussed about how the march of technology is affecting 
imaging.

I agree it is a great concept, and should help thousands of disadvantaged to 
have a chance of diagnosing eye disease early.

The end of what? Blindness? Or our profession-as-we've-known-it?

If this technology takes off, it means thousand, if not millions, more eyes to 
image. More images to review, more data to be stored, organized, and 
catalogued. More people to be trained. And, most importantly, less human misery 
and hardship due to preventable blindness in underserved populations. That's 
good news in my book.

I wish them well.

PEEK (Portable Eye Examination Kit).  In one of the videos, the price of 60 
pounds is mentioned, less for NGOs and health organizations.  Great for 
screening in the wilds of Africa.
