If possible, have someone come in to do complete internal cleaning & realign
objective to the parafocal setting you have on the relay on 1 of the bad
cameras & watch him like a hawk & repeat on the other.
I can't remember which camera I tried to clean & realign myself but it wasn't
as easy as it sounds & eventually had to send it in anyway.

Good luck
Paul

Thanks for the info. We transport the same relay lens to different fundus
cameras. I think I'd be happy if I could just get the fundus cameras
'ballparked', but the 2 in question are grossly different in focus from the
others. As far as I can tell, the only adjustment for focus on the 50Ex, other
than the obvious focussing knob, is the objective lens. I was hoping to find
someone who has adjusted this lens before. Once I find the procedure, I want to
adjust the 2 fundus cameras in question to where they are at least close to the
others. I do have another option. We currently have 3 complete travel systems
with relay lenses. I may have to simply choose one system, parafocal it to work
efficiently on the 2 oddball fundus cameras and dedicate that system to use in
those specific offices. Problem is, I hate work arounds, I'm a "fix it
properly"
kind of guy but that's a luxury that we are not often afforded in medicine when
mating multiple systems.

Steve,

Are you also transporting 1 relay lens with your laptop or does each camera
have
separate relay lens & cabling?

If you are using separate relays everything should stay parafocal once it's set
unless you've had a recent internal cleaning of the EX & the lens wasn't
re-aligned properly at completion.

If you're using the same relay I'd think it be nearly impossible to align all 8
EX's to the parafocal settings you've made on that relay.

Contact me directly if you want to compare parafocal techniques but I have
different camerabacks so your better off talking to another user or someone at
OIS/Merge

Subject: [optimal] Parafocal issues on a Topcon 50EX

We currently have a stable of 8 Topcon 50EX's at various satellite offices and
we run OIS/Merge travel laptop systems. We are having issues where we have to
parafocal the relay lens to get a correct eye piece setting on the fundus
camera. A couple of the cameras focus seem to be out-of-whack for lack of a
better term. Setting the reticle is not a problem and parafocaling the relay
lens is a cinch but I'd just assume have all of my Topcons have the same focal
length. Is there a way to adjust the objective lens on the problematic cameras?
I've done a lot of internal maintenance on Topcons but this is one I simply
haven't ever had to tackle. It almost seems as though someone had to adjust
them

for some sort of retro-fit or homemade digital camera setup. Any suggestions
are

greatly appreciated.
