Most clinics I know just use alcohol and air dry. This has been a many of
debate as to an effective way to disinfect properly, and after time it does
degrade the prism plastic, as can other disinfectants.
Haag Streit recommends the tonowash system or hydrogen peroxide soak with a
rinse and air dry.
The VA clinic in portland has to get their tono prisms sanitized with gas
through their instrument processing dept. So you can imagine they have
hundreds of tono prism tips to accomplish this...they also have used the
disposable tips but told me they are not great to use.
And BTW there is an expiration date on them now as well...old ones would be
inspected and tossed when crazing started.
Attached is a report from AAO, haag streit has a guide as well, but it
