time for an eye exam
I read that you gained a few concussions
I can only dream of having more room and appropriate outlets so cords aren't
snaking across the floor or around the room

We just built out our Eye Institute
While I lost a few battles, I gained a few concessions
No carpeting! Very nice vinyl floors throughout ( both for nausea misses and
carpet fibers in our computers!)
We didn’t go pocket doors but nice barn doors that can easily slide open or
half way closed depending on needs
For our biometry/Ultrasound room it is one long room with EVERYTHING we need in
one room. No need to move patient around
Pentacam, Slit Lamp Camera, B Scan, Lenstar, UBM, Specular Micrography.
We have accordion dividers in the room to allow us to segment it off for
multiple patients at same time.
This will be a huge time saver as most of our patients have at least two of
these procedures at a given time
Likewise, two imaging rooms to provide maximum flexibility
Lots of monitors mounted on the walls, not table, to give us best flexibility
around the equipment
Built in water coolers in each room to save steps ( LEAN)
Sub waiting room to keep patients near the diagnostic center once they have
been dilated ( in the state of CA, only LVN or RN can dilate patient!!!!)
Faraday cage in electrophysiology room ( our biggest expense!)
Multiple recessed FLOOR outlets in each room to provide maximum flexibility in
moving instrumentation from one place to another, growth for
Additional equipment. NO cords running across the floor to wall mounted outlets
I might think of more but these are the biggest items

Space to lay a patient down and to get ER team to the patient. This needed
safety space, might get you enough space to let you do your work.
Thanks,

Good question.
If you have seperate rooms, have seperate thermostats. We had two rooms on a
single thermostat and there were different temperature "needs". Different
equipment producing different heat, different # of people, and most important,
different patients with unique requests. FA patient could have nausea reduced
with a cooler room, etc?

I would highly recommend thinking of a photography suite as a single large
area, rather than a series of rooms.
make your "land grab" now!
use modular partitions to set the boundaries you need now, and have peace of
mind that
there are dozens of different types, architects can find the best suited ones
based on your specs.
this has allowed us to modify our layout many times over the past decade
without requiring major construction - we can set up our approx 30x70 foot room
however we need it with minimal fuss.

Hey folks,
We are building a new outpatient clinic in the coming years (FINALLY) and we
actually get a say in the layout of the department. Crazy right? Anyway, I need
some ideas for the layout of our clinic, and wanted to reach out to our more
experienced photographers for some ideas. Anything would help, and if you feel
like sharing your floor plan, that would be amazing. We would love to model our
clinic after more successful clinics. If you do not wish to share your ideas
here, you can email me at [ zach.dupureur@xxxxxxxxx ](
