George,

Thanks for they reply. He told me he was unable to measure the voltage
across the bulb because it was too high and short-lived (I think that is
what he said). He said everything looked good.

Substitution is certainly the easiest way to determine whether it's the
flashtube or something else, but Claus should also be able to test whether
there is the correct voltage present across the flashtube, and trigger
voltage when the joystick button is pressed.

One of the jobs I tackled when I volunteered at the Schell Eye Hospital in
Vellore, India in 1998 was to troubleshoot a Zeiss photo slit lamp that
wouldn't flash.  Using the 2 tests above, I was able to determine that the
trigger transformer was bad.  They were able to get a suitable replacement
through a local electronics store, I swapped it out, and they were back in
business.

Hello cousins,

I heave a weird request but my FF450 is not flashing and my service
superstar, Claus Goldbecker, believes it is the flash tube but he has no
stock of them and I don't really want to buy another flash tube unless I
know that is the problem. So want I would like to know is if any of you all
have a spare bulb (can be used but has to be confirmed working) that I could
borrow to test the theory that it is the bulb before I shell out the money
to buy a new one. I can pay for shipping to and from my clinic. Let me know
if anyone can help test my theory.
