I would suggest replacing them when they degrade to to point that it affects the imaging. Like when the control photos on young patients with clear media and no highly reflective retinal lesions show retinal detail.

Our filters are at least six years old and seem fine. 35 years ago I had a pair that started fading at about one year.

In the old days, I believe the general rule was after around 2,000 cycles.

Subject: [optimal] FA Filters

Hello all,

How often does everyone change out their FA filters? We seem to be
getting a small amount of pseudofluorescence when shooting control
frames at a high flash setting. We use Zeiss FF450s with OIS. Any
feedback is appreciated, thank you for your time.
