Whatever format your camera records in should be fine, especially if you
are recording with a Nikon or Canon.
Most dSLRs record in mp4 or mov.
.avi is the one that really screws with everything, as it can hide about 3
dozen different encoding formats behind the .avi wrapper & there is no
centralized format for deciphering it.
If you are editing on a Windows computer, output video should be .mp4
If you can install software on the Mac, install VLC & be able to play any
video from the past 20 years.
Speaker? Whatever you have that will plug into the headphone jack on the
MacBook
Though the cool thing now is to buy any of the 100s of bluetooth speakers -
10-15 watts should be enough for a large classroom, so $25-30 or ask
someone under 30 & they probably have one you can borrow.
