Has anyone had an issue with, or know much about, Pyridium? It’s given to
patients after lithotripsy as an analgesic for the urethra. It also stains
urine and mucous yellow. I looked it up, and it doesn’t say what dye is part of
the compound. I had a patient with a history of bad reaction to Pyridium and
couldn’t definitely say she’d be fine with an angiogram. (Opted not to do it).
It’s an AZO dye, which means it has 2 nitrogen atoms between carbon atoms
(C-N=N-C), so the chemical composition isn’t the same as NAFL.
Just curious if anyone else has come across this situation.
