I haven't been able to a side by side comparison between Daytona and
California. We have had the Daytona for years. It is great for FAF. In fact
the FAF is quite stellar. Our peds patients tolerate it excellently. The
colour is the typical optos colour. Our version does not have the
autocorrect that I think California offers. There is a colour saturation
slider in the software though.
The Daytona or atleast our Daytona does not have the correction to reduce
the lateral peripheral stretch in the image. It also only has a central
fixation target so it takes some finesse to get the patient to look in
specific directions.... With kids anyhow. Adults may get the concept
better.
The first gen Clarus on the other hand also offers colour and FAF. I did
think the faf in optos much nicer but the colour in the Clarus was
unparalleled with any UWF system out there. In a peds center where colour
is paramount there is no COMPARISON. Kids handled it well. We tried the
first clarus that came to Canada and I think there may have been
improvements since.
If you just want lesion location identification and don't care about colour
quality and a want a great faf system.... Daytona could be a good option.
Especially if the price point is well below the pack. If it rivals Clarus
is a choice you won't regret.
Comes down to your specific needs.

Along with the 200Tx, we use the Optos California everyday but have no
experience with the Daytona.

The California is $13,000 more than the Daytona. Is it worth it?
