Forgot to add: it is not that I want to or have the driving need to develop my
specific type of braille notetaker device, let alone compete with anyone else.
There is enough biomedical and industrial work here to keep Chuckie busy in
spite of illness. However, I do see the very many inadequacies of what braille
stuff is out there (even though some in other sectors of the net donât like
to hear that, haha), and I do know that an optacon-like modular device can be
integrated into a peripheral braille notetaker/display with additional features
and room to grow, and the inadequacies out there CAN be truly solved for real.
Frankly, even though the Braille Lite 40 is now what might be termed a
âlegacy productâ, I think the designers of the Bacon Lettuce & Tomato 40
really got it right for sure, and came up with a pretty well seamless braille
solution for its time. Since the demise of that product, there has been a
decline in the refreshable braille seamless technology approach, and in a sense
nothing really measures up to the seamlessness of the BLT40, even though newer
computing power and design techniques have come along. Also, I
believeâalbeit my results have not been duplicated elsewhereâthat promising
braille module technologies have been developed here which, for the medium term
at least, would solve our problems. If something elsewhere is being done which
is superlative, then do let Charles know so he can support such very needed
efforts.
Best,
Chuck
