Yes. The return address could also have been written on the letter, and an
envelope with a window could have been included to the original envelope. Then
no labels would have been needed, but there are different ways to do this.
I do also remember having address labels for sending letters to specific
addresses, but that was before e-mail (smile). I have replaced those labels
with letter templates that are Word documents. Windowed envelopes with the
postin fee included can be purchased in post offices here for domestic posting.
When such a template is printed on a standard A4 page and placed to an envelope
like this, the recipient's address will be placed in the middle of the window.
When the recipient opens the letter, the sender's address can be seen on the
top of the page.
The most important thing still is that I am able to check with my Optacon both
that the printing has succeeded and that the recipient's address is properly
placed inside the envelope window. The letter template has to be tested just
once, but something may happen with the printer. If the tone powder would be
finished, I would be able to notice that with the Optacon.
The benefit with a laser printer is that the printing output remains proper
until the tone is totally finished. This is not the case with an ink printer
with a tone cartridge.

It's Robert in NY. I received an important letter in the mail, and had to
mail it back in a return address envelope that was included. I noticed
with the optacon that there was a code on the envelope near where my
return address would go. I was able to put my return address label on the
envelope so as not to block the code. without the optacon, ths would not
have been possible.
