Reading lottery game tickets. Also, now that everything is digital, we need an optacon that can read those devices: cell phones, tvs audio devices with displays. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Catherine Thomas" <braille@xxxxxxxxx> To: <optacon-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, October 01, 2007 7:14 AM Subject: Re: Switching Back Mary Ellen, Sharon, and others, Now that you have returned to using an Optacon, what tasks are you relieved to use it for? Somebody (Sharon I think) mentioned what a pleasure it was to "just read" a paper or a card without going through all that scanning and computer operation. What other tasks are there? What tasks could you suddenly do independently again that were kind of a porblem in the absence of the Optacon? These are the kinds of things that will figure into any sort of Optacon re-development. Also particularly please mention any tasks that had to be given up altogether, say, the exploration of cookbooks.
