Which Optacon are you getting? If you are getting an R1D the charger is plugged
directly in to the Optacon. If you are getting an Optacon II, it uses an
external battery and their is a charging module separate from the Optacon that
the battery fits in to so that it can be charged. The battery can't be
overcharged. When you first plug the charger in to the Optacon or the charging
module, if it is working properly, it will feel warm when you touch it. Once it
is charged, it will no longer feel warm. Their is also a button on the back of
the Optacon that you can press to make sure it is charged.. I could speak by
phone too.

without direct access to books and charts and such things that aren't
scanning very well, in Openbook. But that aside, it will just be a joy
to be able to read print, for myself, although I imagine it may be too
slow going for lengthy reading of books, but I'll try.
How long does the Optacon take to charge its battery? I don't want to
damage it, the first day! Is there any way of knowing when it is fully
charged?
I'm open to communication off list or by phone, as well, if that is
easier. Thanks for any help!
