Actually I don't think contacting Humanware is a good idea. 4Blind may have
given me information which isn't yet public. I'm sure Humanware will set the
record straight. This type of issue came up on another mailing list I'm
subscribed to where people were demanding that APH apologize to Orbit
Research for using the name Graphiti in their new project. Instructing list
members to tell a company to do something specific can raise all kinds of
issues. The discussion about APH and Orbit Research I saw on this list
generated a huge firestorm and it took a couple of days for the situation to
calm down. When people post to any mailing list sometimes list members jump
to conclusions and then that generates a huge amount of messages. That
happened on this list a number of years ago when Don bishop was the
moderator. Things calmed down after hundreds of messages and the moderator
repeatedly telling people to stop.

After reading your message and understanding why you might be skeptical on
this matter, I suggest that you contact Humanware and tell them that a
company (give the company name) claims to be developing a graphical display
somehow in connection with Humanware. I, like you, am skeptical; if
Humanware and APH are in concert to develop a good-quality graphical
display, they shouldn't need another company to do it for them - or perhaps
even in competition with them. If the company is in Russia, one could
encounter some big customs-related issues in getting the units. I guess I
could say that I am, as it were, scratching my head on this one.

I recently attended the national convention of the National Federation of
the Blind. I visited a company in the exhibit hall and the person I spoke
with indicated they are developing graphics displays. The person I spoke
with claimed that their first product will be available in September. I'm
very skeptical. The company is in Russia and they claim they will be working
with Humanware. I don't know why this would happen considering that
Humanware has its own project to work with APH to develop a graphics
display. Information about the APH project is readily available so I don't
