Last I was there the Alcazaba (a Moorish castle overlooking the city) is
free on Sundays.
Afterwards take the steep path down to the city and see the Roman theatre.
Visit Frigiliana. it is WORTH IT. just look it up.
Obviously get Churros con chocolate and a cafe con leche. Camperos are
delicious, giant sandwiches found at hamburgueserias (hamburger shops) and
pizzerias only in malaga.
Visit the cathedral and surrounding area. Calle Marques de Larios is a
long walking street with shopping and street performers (throw some change
in their bucket and the "statues" will move and interact with you).

You could do a free tour, and ask the guides where to eat and drink.
I recommend Pedregalejo beach restaurants (chiringuitos) to eat local
food: pescaito frito is the tipical dish here.
There are also museums, monuments, mountains to go hiking, and an active
night life.
You can also visit Antequera, Ronda, Nerja, Frigiliana or Marbella.
