New H.264 solution will satisfy major Telcos and ISPs who have been waiting for finding better ways to deliver video and audio of sufficient quality through smaller and smaller pipes -- bandwidth. "We are pleased to offer hardware decoding H.264 base box for the first time to the market. Our customers come to us for fully integrated IP set top solutions that incorporate the latest features and functionality. Our solution is a seamless migration. Right now, it is MPEG-2 base but when time comes, it will upgrade to H.264 base to meet market need for a high rate of compression. While maintaining the same infrastructure, the same box, the same management system, there will be no need for additional training for staffs. It will enable our co-ops to achieve greater efficiency and better serve their own customers," marketing director, Gavin Kim explains. Resolution and bandwidth requirements are key issues within the IP TV sector. The power of the Tcom&dtvro's H.264 solution allows Mpeg-2 quality video and audio streaming over 1.5Mbps connection, significantly reducing bandwidth requirement from 4Mpbs to 1.5Mpbs while subscribers enjoy the same quality of Mpeg-2 streaming. "H.264 engine enabled set-top box benefits everyone," says Tcom&dtvro's CEO and president, Young-Min Kim. "Subscribers get quicker interactive feedback, better quality of multimedia rich content, Operators and service providers achieve less bandwidth requirement and benefit from increased customer satisfaction and reduced costs, it's a classic win-win," he says. Tcom&dtvro's will begin delivering TD530 to one of the major Telcos for a trial service at the end of March 2005. TD530 will be on NAB show and available for a live demonstration.
