Craig, no one can be this dense. I don't think I've met anyone so slow at
understanding simple points.
Retrans consent is from the past, from a different era. Content provided on the
Internet is viewed in whatever way makes the most sense, and that means on
demand predominantly. Obviously, OTT sites have to compensate the owners of
content, but retrans consent to local OTA broadcasters is hardly the only way,
or even the most common way, for compensating content owners, for content
distributed from OTT sites.
Furthermore, once you have the Internet tools available, even the
"live-from-studio" news streams can be assembled in other ways. I already
explained this to you. Most of "live news" streams consist of numerous recorded
segments. That assembly no longer needs to occur in the studio, it can be
choreographed remotely.
