So the WaPo limits access to a few free articles a month; like Bert - I think -
I have no desire to help them financially.
Bert provides a glimpse at his inner soul here, and I find it encouraging...

Funny, conflicted article, from a paper that is and has been as hopelessly,

Wow...even Bert knows Fake News when he sees it?
One thing to point out, strictly mandated net neutrality, on the AT&T ISP
side of the business, would take away some angst here. Even if they carry
what has become a fairly pathetic CNN, they have to carry any other news
outlets too.
So now Bert wants to extend Net Neutrality to the (V)MVPD bundles that he
refuses to pay for?
Apparently Bert believes that the government has the power to mandate that a
(V)MVPD and a content owner agree to carriage? Can the FCC set the rate too?
Apparently Bert is unaware that his favorite example of the “un-bundle” - Sling
TV - does not provide access to every news channel at any price.
Talk about. Slippery slope...
Sounds like a winner to me. But it does require the FCC to do their job.
Seems like a huge ask.
Their Job?
You mean to regulate the content of OTT services delivered over the Neutral
Internet?
"The Antitrust Division's real aim, they said, was to hurt the cable news
network CNN in retaliation for its tough treatment of the Trump
administration."
Which, naturally, the Post publishes as being fact, instead of mere
speculation.
Yup. To date there is no verification of any such “ask” by the DOJ; but AT&T is
adamant that they would not agree if asked. The article implies that they would
go to court to prevent it, or any attempt to block the merger.
"On the other hand, the fear President Trump might be using antitrust law to
reward friends and punish enemies is valid and important. Trump has never
shown any respect for basic rule of law. He has, for instance, more than once
called on the FBI to investigate his political opponents."
Heh heh. Kind of funny, right? Just Trump?
Wow, I think Bert and I need to have a few beers... We may agree about more
than I realize...
;-)
No worries, though. Donna Brazile took care opening up that can of worms on
the Democratic Party's side, even while the Washington Posts, NYTs, and the
CNNs, were sound asleep. Or more correctly, even while they were too busy
concentrating on just candidate Trump alone. Do your job, pathetic news
media. Totally oblivious to what was going on, just as they were oblivious
about what the voters were thinking out there.
Slight disagreement here, but it looks like Bert and I are on the same again.
I would only suggest that they are far from oblivious to what is going on;
rather they are NOT NEUTRAL in their journalism. Makes one wonder what the
Journalism schools are teaching today...
What’s on the masthead of the venerable New York Times?
“All the news that fits...the narrative.”
What a bizarre state of affairs, eh? Who are the good guys? Who knows?
There are no good guys Bert...
Just special interests and the lawyers and analysts paid to create the
narratives.
Regards
Craig
