Several months ago, I was going to call up a writer at the San Diego Union-Tribune and complain that he had drank Sony's Kool-Aid. He had written an article right before The Show (NCTA) about this killer new technology that Sony had developed, and how it would overcome the dominance of SA and Motorola in the cable industry to become new middleware. On what planet? I was going to ask him. I held my tongue, since when I pitch a possible article to the U-T on what I'm working on (and I expected to have 'news' in a week or two) I was going to talk to him.
