Sorry Bert, but this “market correction” has nothing to do with cord cutting or
competition.
It is a SELF INFLICTED wound by ESPN, with major support from the NFL players,
who have given middle America the incentive to stop watching the politicization
of sports.
People are no longer as much forced to subsidize egregiously overpaid sports,
if they couldn't care less about pro sports.
Really?
Every new VMVPD bundle now includes ESPN.
You are correct that there are some new options like Netflix, but in reality,
not much has changed OTHER THAN the viewing behavior of the Millennials and Gen
Z, who like to entertain themselves via You Tube, Facebook, and Twitter.
John Skipper has that much more incentive to come up with novel ways to reach
customers.
John Skipper has much more to worry about than cord cutters. His organization
is self destructing, giving loyal viewers the incentive to stop watching, and
in the extreme, to stop paying.
All of which, of course, could disappear if the current FCC succeeds in
dismantling net neutrality. (Although I seriously doubt that can happen long
term, even if it does happen for a brief, abortive period in time.)
This has NOTHING to do with Net Neutrality, nor will the pending changes in Net
Neutrality enforcement cause anything to change Bert. Net Neutrality IS NOT
threatened by this FCC. It is simply being returned to the light handed
regulatory regime that existed BEFORE 2015.
Please stop turning every thread into your personal crusade for heavy handed
FCC regulation.
Regards
Craig
