(there is a lot more to your question than the simplified answers I
believe you are looking for, but here is part of my take...)

Yes, we do. Depends on the cost of bandwidth and/or transport (BTW...it
is just as easy to do IP as MPEG on digital mW...but I am thinking that
was not really your issue?). Also, there is the little issue of
dependability of the link. Easier?...taking cost out of the equation?
Sometimes. For example, it was "easier" to couple the bandwidth of
multiple T1's and pay the local loop and carrier charge than to run
microwave from DC to here (and vice versa...north of Baltimore). Cost
effective as well. BUT...it is for carrying on live remote interviews
from one of our Washington bureaus, and not depended on 24/7. We have
had some 'down time', but for what we were wanting to do, we did not
need "five nine's" (99.999%) reliability. As to "LIVE 24/7", the
emphasis shifts away from that methodology.

Also, what is the geographic situation? Who knows, it could be a
candidate for WiFi/WiMax, etc... :-)

"A strict observance of the written laws
is doubtless one of the high duties of a
good citizen, but it is not the highest.
The laws of necessity, of self-preservation,
of saving our country when in danger, are
of higher obligation. To lose our country
by a scrupulous adherence to written law
would be to lose the law itself, with life,
liberty, property, and all those who are
enjoying them with us; thus absurdly
sacrificing the end to the means."
