ESPN has some major problems, especially with Sports Center and other ‘sports
opinion shows,’ that have lost a huge percentage of their audience. These shows
fIll all the airtime when ESPN does not offer live sporting events or replays
of these events. The audience disappeared when ESPN started to politicize
sports. And the audience declined again when professional athletes started to
politicize live sporting events.
Bert is correct. People like me are bailing from the stuff that offends us.
And he should be ecstatic that people are finally starting to ‘JUST SAY NO’ to
the media congloms, and the Hollywood and sports celebrities.
But people are not bailing, they are switching...
And ESPN is still an essential component of the bundle, even as their NON-live
event audience continues to decline.
