The "killer app" for cell-phone video is unicast "nanny-cams", "refrigerator
cams," etc, and not just one-way, so your dog can see you on your "dog cam."
Got enough bandwidth for that?

How about something a bit simpler. Uploading videos to and from YouTube.com
and YouPorn.com (have to thank the Wall Street Journal editorial page for
that one) or XTube.com. Got enough bandwidth for that?

If for no other reason than they have no where else to develop for cellular
technologies are proceeding toward higher bit rate portable and mobile
delivery. You can argue if there is a market or not but you can't argue that
there will be a lot of technologies that offer mobile/portable deliver of HD
video in the coming years. Just like chrome on cars its just going to be
there if for no other reason than to be competitive.

Asia is going nuts developing this stuff. Europe lags behind and the US is
becoming the dull one. Congress in their worry about falling behind the
Japanese has helped engineer the US into the backwaters of technology,
example 8-VSB.

US broadcasters are now in a rush to implement old technology for mobile and
will witness other broadcasters and cellular companies eat their lunch IMO.
