I suppose that if even 1st gen ATSC receivers did as well as any other system in Hong Kong, back in 2000, this decision is technically non-critical. Bert ------------------------------------ http://www.dtg.org.uk/news/news.php?id=2160 Hong Kong opts for Chinese DTV standard Terrestrial broadcasters in Hong Kong have chosen to adopt China's home-grown standard for digital terrestrial television known as DMB-T (Digital Media Broadcasting Terrestrial). DMB-T-which, despite the similar name is completely different to the South Korean mobile broadcast technology-was selected by China's Standardisation Administration in September, and will become the mandatory broadcast signal for broadcasters from August 1, 2007. Hong Kong's Television Broadcasts (TVB) and Asia Television (ATV) has now told the Office of the elecommunications Authority (OFTA) that they too will adopt DMB-T. The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) said the OFTA would make a final decision before the end of March. According to the ABU, both TVB and ATV have run laboratory tests of DMB-T in China and field tests in Hong Kong.
