Well actually there was a $16 billion loss at AMD, but not as bad as the first
quarter of this year when they lost $73 billion. But they did see a significant
increase in YOY sales, as did Intel.
It is worth noting that Samsung passed Intel in chip sale revenues for the
first time ever. Much of this is due to strong sales in their memory chip
division; this could be due in part to improving sales of PCs. Some analysts
are saying they will surpass Apple as the world's most valuable company.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in a year or two.
