It's that time of year again!

Welcome back to work or school!

This is a call for presentation proposals for the 2012 HPA Tech Retreat, February 13-17 at the Hyatt Grand Champions in Indian Wells, California (new location, still in the Palm Springs area). Proposals may cover any aspect of moving-image and associated sound technologies, from pre-production to perception.

Topics might include (but are not limited to): lighting, lenses, image sensors, microphones, image and sound processing, storage, distribution, presentation, monitoring, measurement, 3D, 4K, 8K, interactivity, fingerprinting, watermarking, deconvolution, conversion, graphics, illusions, displays, color, dynamic range, archiving, repurposing, features, episodics, sports, commercials, news, live transmission, film, voice recognition, virtual cameras, audience measurement, bit-rate reduction, motion-platform seating, multichannel testing, file-based systems, etc.

Abstracts are NOT required. Proposals can be as short or as long as the proposer deems necessary to convey the idea. Send proposals to Mark Schubin at tvmark@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Proposals must be submitted by the proposed presenter. All submissions will be acknowledged within 24 hours. If you do not receive an acknowledgement, the proposal has not been received.

Besides attending, there are four ways of participating in the retreat:
- For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Eileen Kramer, ekramer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx - For demo-area space, please keep checking the HPA website, http://www.hpaonline.com. Application forms will probably be posted sometime in November. - For breakfast roundtables (7:30 to 8:30 am, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), send your request to Mark Schubin, tvmark@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Please include the topic title (brief), the day(s) desired, and the presenter's name an affiliation. All submissions having to do with the industry's technology will be accepted on a first-come basis until all tables are filled. All roundtables on any day are concurrent. Breakfast-roundtable moderators must be registered for the retreat. - For the main program, send proposals to Mark Schubin, tvmark@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Decisions should be made by the end of November. Decisions may be based on emerging trends and other factors and do not necessarily reflect on the perceived quality of the presentation. Selection is NOT influenced by sponsorship. Presentation slots are nominally 30 minutes long, including setup and Q&A; longer or shorter slots are sometimes available. Panels are typically longer. A panel proposal should be from the proposed moderator, who will be responsible for getting all of the panelists.

Main-program presenters (and panelists) who are accepted will get free admission to their half-day session and a substantial discount on the whole retreat; breakfast roundtables do not confer any discount or free admission.

Many thanks!

TTFN,
Mark
