http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/05/ad-skipping-lawsuit/ Wow! Absolutely NOTHING could be better than broadcasters and/or TV networks becoming disenchanted with MVPDs. Perhaps they'll figure out why Internet distribution, along with umwalled OTA distribution, is more to their advantage. In this case, like in the previous VCR case, I'll continue to suggest that allowing FF through ads, but not outright blocking of ads, should be a reasonable compromise. When doing FF, the user is paying attention to the ad (in order to know when to stop FF), and with digital storage, *can* see what product is being pushed. So the user can backtrack and watch at normal speed, if he's interested. Not to mention, with Internet distribution, ad skipping or FF are not possible, unless the user himself cobbles up a PC-based PVR. Anyway, an optimistic turn of events, IMO. A good balance to the greedy notion requiring an MVPD subscription to view online content!! For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Ain't classical physics great?
