It should not be necessary to jailbreak a phone. This is just another example of how regulations and restrictive business models create an "equal and opposite" reaction. (note, both Apple and AT&T have exacerbated this situation via their exclusive contract).

I would prefer to see an open market for devices that can attach to wireless networks, as is the case today for wired telephone instruments. And a separate market for wireless service driven by real competition.
