Hi all:
The *_FCC filing window for LPTV and TV translator digital companion
channel applications_* is *_May 1 thru May 12, 2006_*. Permittees and
licensees seeking digital operation must choose between an on-channel
digital conversion of their analog station (i.e.: flash cut) or
operating a companion digital LPTV or TV translator station. There will
be a freeze on FCC filing of low power television, TV translator and
Class A analog and digital minor change, analog and digital displacement
and digital on-channel conversion applications from April 3 thru May 12,
2006. By subsequent FCC Public Notice, the Bureaus will announce the
specific procedures for the filing of FCC Form 175 (short-form
application) and associated technical data. This information was
contained in an FCC Press Release (Jan 26, 2006). If you require any
further information with regards to this Public Notice - please contact
the FCC Video Division, Media Bureau directly at: (202) 418-1600 or
visit: www.fcc.gov/mb/video <http://www.fcc.gov/mb/video/>

In light of the above information, an educational seminar on the
transition of TV translators to HDTV digital will be held at 3 locations
in Oregon in March 2006. Featured speakers will be Dr. Byron St.Clair,
President National Translator Association and a principal in St. Clair
Consulting, and Kent Parsons, State of Utah Translator Coordinator.
There is no seminar fee. Lunch is complimentary. Since the U.S.
Congress has mandated that the entire U.S. change their TV transmission
signal to a digital TV format and President Bush has recently signed it
into law. All persons associated with the TV Translator system in your
area, both administratively and technically, are invited to attend. This
program is sponsored by LARCAN USA Inc., Bloomfield Enterprises, LLC and
Oregon's SBE chapters 76 in Eugene and 124 in Portland.

There will be a seminar in Seattle on Monday, March 13th and it will be
posted as soon as the location is firmed up.
