As a follow-up to past discussions regarding availability of 50/60p
formats, i just want to mention that, having recently bought a Panasonic
HDC-SD700, i can now produce contents in 1080P/50 and see it at that
frame rate and resolution with a video projector in viewing conditions
compliant with the 30° field of view defined for HDTV.

The camcorder is not among the most expensive available (about 800 €),
the projector is mid range (perhaps about 2500 - 3000 € if i had to buy
it now).

So this is all possible with consumer devices today.

A US or Japanese consumer can get 60P capability for the same prices or
less. I regret the choice between 50P and 60P is not available as a
setting, but i suppose it would mostly be an embarassment, since it
makes more sense to shoot 50P in Europe anyway (no frame rate conversion
when providing a DVD copy to relatives without HD equipment, for
instance).
