The deadline for proposing main-program presentations for the 2010 Hollywood Post Alliance (16th Annual) Technology Retreat, February 16-19 in Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs area), California is THIS FRIDAY, October 23.

Nothing formal is required. A sentence or two from the proposed presenter is sufficient. If you have already submitted a proposal and have received an acknowledgment, you are in the hopper for consideration. If you did not receive an acknowledgment, please resubmit.

FYI, there will be concurrent ATSC and Charles Poynton half-day seminars the morning of Tuesday, February 16, followed by a supersession on 3-D in the home. The main program begins Wednesday, Februasry 17. One new feature this year will be a presentation by CableLabs chief technology officer Ralph Brown. There will be the usual broadcast, consumer, and Washington updates. A session on workflows seems likely based on submissions thus far. It's possible that there will also be mobile and games presentations this year, as well as a surprise guest whose name has probably appeared in more movies than any other (except Dolby).

So, if you're interested in presenting something in the main program, don't miss Friday's deadline.

As for other parts of the retreat, there is no deadline for breakfast roundtables (but, when we run out of tables, we cannot add more), and they will be on THREE mornings this time: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Proposals for the main program or requests for breakfast roundtables should be sent to me.

Demo-room applications and retreat registration will begin in November. Check the HPA web site: http://www.hpaonline.com

For anything else, please contact Eileen Kramer at HPA: ekramer@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks! I hope to see you there.

TTFN,
Mark
