Subject: [openbook] new scanners and Open Book

I have an old HP Scanjet 2c scanner, which I am using in conjunction with
Open Book 7.0. I am considering upgrading my scanner so I can use a USB
connection instead of a SCSI controller. The problem is that the manufacturers
have phased out most of the scanners supported by Freedom Scientific. Has
anyone tried using the HP Scanjet 8270 or 5590 in conjunction with OpenBook?
How about the Epson Perfection V100? The reason why I am doing this is
because my scanner is no longer showing up in the control panel. In addition,
I am getting messages in my event viewer stating that my SCSI controller is not
responding within the time-out period. Thanks in advance for your advice.

  Eric Patterson
