Old Union Church will celebrate communion during worship on Sunday. Our
custom each time we share communion is bring it to those members of our
church who are unable to attend worship, to remind them that they are part
of our Christian fellowship and that God is with them even when they can't
make it to church.
In order to share "home communion," I must be accompanied by an elder. The
elder's participation shows that communion is not a private ceremony but an
expression of our shared life. The elder "represents" the entire
congregation in each person's home.
I would like to serve home communion either Monday or Tuesday afternoon,
and I am looking for an elder to join me. If you have ever been ordained
as an elder, even if you are not on session now, you are eligible. This is
also a wonderful way to build or renew friendships with people you may not
have seen for a long time.
