Hey y’all!! Good to see folks are migrating over here. I have a Presonus
StudioLive 32 Series 3 mixer that is the heart of my PA system. I record all
the shows that I’ve mixed for, but have not done pure “studio” work with it. I
had a rack a few years ago that I had an RME Fireface 800 along with 2 x
Presonus Digimax FS to give me 24 channels of input. All in all, I could not
tell a difference in the preamps from the RME vs the Presonus. In fact, it was
the experience with the Digimax FS units that lead me to the original
StudioLive 24 as a live mixer and then a couple of years ago I upgraded to the
SL32S3 that I have now. I’ve been very pleased with the Presonus gear and
their support.

Hi Sam,
I have the Behringer unit. It’s pretty nice. Midas preamps, which sound very
good. The one I have has the weird characteristic that it only sends the first
two channels out the Main Outs. I have to believe that’s a defect, but I
haven’t pursued it yet.
I can’t really speak to the other units, although I have a Presonus Studiolive
32SX I’m still getting used to. I love everything about it, except that I
can’t change scenes via MIDI.

Finally moved on getting a new desktop. Bought one from Jim Roseberry @
Purrrfect Audio (thanks for the suggestions!). Now, I need an audio interface.
Don't want to spend a ton, don't need a ton.
Current needs: 2 audio ins for instruments/mic. Phantom power. Midi I/O. Low
latency. Nice sound quality (should be first on this list).
I was going to go with the Focusrite 2i2, but no Midi.
So here's the list:
* Focusrite 4i4 gen3
* MOTU M2 or M4
* SSL 2+
* Presonus Studio 24c
* Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD
Jim is suggesting the Behringer, which kind of surprises me. Granted, I've been
out of the game for a while, but I remember Behringer being not very highly
regarded. I have an old Presonus Compression unit I liked, but the knobs got
really scratchy after a while. Could just need a cleaning.
Anyway, any thoughts on these? What would be your choice?
