Today I did a fun activity that really worked!! Students created five sentences for homework with vocabulary that has come up in class. In pairs they read their sentences to one another. Then they picked their favorite sentence to read to the whole group. Then they drew a picture of their sentence and shared that. For homework tonight they need to pick their favorite word from our vocabulary list so far, label it in Spanish and draw it. These are first year middle school kids so their sentences were very crazy like "dinosaur hit fat cat eyes green" but they got their message across. Ej: ?Como es tu padre, madre, animal favorite? Etc. They made a 4 X 5 grid in their notebooks and drew 20 words (a partner actually told them which words they wanted them to draw). One class I had write the words. The other classes I had them just draw and the next day (or later in class if there was time) play bingo as a way to review. They always love a good game of bingo! I review parts of the vocabulary each day in the circle moving around and doing actions. I'm trying to think of new ways to review the vocab and hold them accountable for know it.
