So excited for you BreAnne! Please keep me in the loop, I have often wondered
if with an MA in Teaching Languages, I could still grab a summer stint teaching
English abroad or if I need TESOL certification, and would love to hear how
things go for you.

Good luck! :)

Hello OWL community!
................................................................................................................................................................
I am writing to you today looking for some information regarding teaching
abroad. Feel free to by-pass this email, as it doesn't pertain to teaching with
OWL...
................................................................................................................................................................

I am just beginning to look into the option of teaching abroad! I would love
to teach Spanish, but would also enjoy teaching English. My goal is to teach
in Chile, but I'll look into other Spanish-speaking countries as well. I have
taken all the ESOL courses from my alma mater, but have yet to take the
certification exam. I do not have a TESOL or TESL certification yet.

My questions for you include:
Are you aware if there is a way to by-pass doing a TESOL or TESL certification
program since I have done the ESOL university coursework? It seems like a
repeat of all my classes and over $1,000 of extra expense...
Are you familiar with reputable, affordable institutions to receive a TESOL or
TESL certifications from? I'm in Portland, OR, but online is an option too.
Are you familiar with high quality, international teaching programs?
If you know anyone who have participated in teaching programs abroad, would you
pass along my contact info? Thanks!!

I hope this email finds you well, and I appreciate the time you've taken to
look into it. I am very excited about this dream potentially becoming a
reality!! I am simultaneously applying for Spanish positions in the Portland,
Oregon area for next year, but really hope I can make teaching in Chile happen.
 Thanks again for your help!

Bre :)
