[off-topic] Using Remote Controls on Iphone or Nokia?

Hi guys
Can one use either an Iphone or Nokia 6120C as a remote Control for
stereo or tv? Why the question? You see My Panasonic stereo (I bought it
cheap since it was the last one) didn't come with a Remote or user
manual; I found the user manual online, thus it mentions the use of a
Remote Control. I'm wondering therefor if using some Iphone app or
something on the Nokia, can Iuse these as a remote control on the
stereo, or would I be better off going to my local distributor of
Panasonic seeing if they have a remote? My stereo model number (if it
helps any)is found on this site
