http://odamex.net/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1139 Bug ID: 1139 Summary: Client experiences random crash (violent crash) Product: Odamex Version: 0.7.x Hardware: x86 (Windows, Linux, etc) OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 Status: NEW Severity: critical Priority: P1 Component: Client Assignee: odamex-bug-reporter@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Reporter: watermelonst@xxxxxxxxxxx This crash appears to be random, and while uncommon it has been experienced by almost every player (if not every player) in the WDL who plays actively. Today in priv, multiple people crashed at different intervals. It appears to be completely random, so we can't pinpoint anything that might have triggered it. The crash itself is a REALLY violent crash. It locks up windows almost completely and makes it impossible to do anything. If you press ctrl + alt + del, it takes usually 60+ seconds for the command to even register. The mouse chokes really hard and performs an entire move every 10-15 seconds (of all the movement). The only way to recover is to be lucky enough for getting to the ctrl/alt/del menu and select "log off", or just power down the computer. Getting it to appear is not easy, its possible to play 8-10 rounds of priv (~2 hours worth) and it wont happen, but when it does happen it pretty much takes the whole computer with it. If this occurs during a league match it will completely destroy the team who is playing. If theres any way I can add some code to capture it or be prepared for such an event I will. The main problem though is it almost always takes the whole operating system with it... so debugging this looks like it'd be hard anyways. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
