http://odamex.net/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1035 --- Comment #2 from RjY <rjy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> --- Regarding keepkeys, on reflection I think I've changed my mind since writing the original commit message: I'm not sure there is a meaningful difference between suiciding using a console command and just letting yourself die to the trap you were suiciding to avoid. The situation I was imagining when I wrote the original was something like: a player runs into a room with a trapped key, grabs it (which locks him in and releases monsters) then suicides to teleport out and avoid the trap. But in that situation the player can equally well avoid the trap just by letting the monsters kill him. Thus, the inability to use the console command is merely an irritation of the user interface rather than actual cheat prevention. Thus I conclude I was probably overthinking it and the keepkeys part of the patch should be reverted. Traditional (non-survival) Doom co-op is already quite like cheating, especially now when many co-op servers run with constant item respawning and so forth making player death much more like a light slap on the wrist. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
