Umunna – “We should not leave the European Union until we know where we are
going”
A copy of the EU’s position paper on legal arrangements on transition has been
leaked.
Commenting, Chuka Umunna MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign,
said:
“The EU’s leaked position paper underlines one thing: all the proposed
transition does is push the cliff-edge out a little bit further. Transition
increasingly looks less like building a bridge and more like being made to walk
the plank.
“We should not leave the European Union until we know where we are going. At
the moment there is a transition to nowhere, and nothing to implement: because
the end destination - our future relationship with the EU - is unknown as the
Cabinet can’t agree on it.”
