I saw this on the Friends of Malheur Facebook page- I hope it's okay to send
out here. If someone could please re-post this to the BOO listserve, I'd
appreciate it. Karan FairchildTim Blount Health Update:As some of you may be
aware, late last week Tim suffered a severe health issue. After suffering from
fatigue and generally feeling unwell for most of the week he was taken to his
local hospital on Friday with what appeared to be stroke like symptoms. After
initial observation it was decided he should be immediately LifeFlighted to
Boise. In short, Tim has had both a very significant Cardiac Event as well as a
substantial stroke. He is currently at St Lukes RMC in Boise but we anticipate
being moved to their Acute Rehab Facility within the next 24 hrs for
specialized treatment of his stroke prior to decisions on how to treat his
heart which is operating at very substandard capacity. As you might imagine the
treatment of these two issues and how one affects the other is a very fine line
and a challenge to his team. It’s anticipated that his stay here will be at a
minimum 4 weeks, at this time to recover from the stroke alone.Tim’s stroke was
confined to a portion of the brain that controls cognitive thinking and memory
recall, but thankfully he has no paralysis from the incident. He struggles with
recall of both long term and short term memory and speech. In lay person speak,
moving an idea from the brain to the mouth is very disjointed at this time and
he has challenges verbalizing what is on his mind. Needless to say calls
probably aren’t terribly effective right now but any messages or communications
will get back to him through John or me-- whether they are sent to us or Tim
directly. If you send messages to John or I please give us a little context as
how you know Tim so we can help him establish the connection of how he knows
you—this is a big help. His best friend John Shewey and I are both with him and
we are glad to answer any questions or convey messages. Tim really appreciates
hearing that he is in the thoughts and prayers of others right now and as he
begins this new and very strenuous journey. I think once he gets to the new
location, he will be on a more established regiment and visitation will become
far more practical as well. We’ll certainly provide updates on when that might
be and how things are progressing.
