So, in case anyone else is curious, I saw an adult Western in Depoe Bay a few
days before the immature tanager was found. They are definitely different
birds, The Western was an adult male with a red face, black back and very
prominent wing bars. It's surprising that little Depoe Bay had two tanagers in
a week in late October.
