Nothing impossible about two Merlins at once. In the non-breeding season they
show as predilection for extensive residential areas with scattered tall

two Merlin's in L.O.? I was working on a job site in Lake Oswego. I just
happened to look up and notice, first thought a Male Sharpie. Then I noticed
the wings were pointed, tail was long and straight, I couldn't tell if it was
rounded or square or if there were any markings on it too high up. It was
chasing something with rapid strong wing beats. Then I noticed what was
chasing it was another bird just like it. They circled once both still had
pointed wing tips, then the one bird landed in the top of a very tall Doug fir
tree. And the other just glided past it and disappeared. I tried to get my
bins on it but it took off before I could get them out. This area is on the
shore of the lake about 50' above the water. The birds were at least 85' up all
tall Doug firs around. Would Kestrels be in this terrain? Extremely rare odds
to have two Merlins can't imagine. Sharpies in pursuit wings tips could be
pointed but when circling? Any thoughts and tips to tell the differences.Chris
