I've been hearing starlings doing their pewee imitation all fall/winter as
well. I even had one particular bird on Hayden Island that did half a
pewee call, then changed the other half to something unrecognizable and
ridiculous sounding, making for a hilarious remix.
While we're on the subject of starlings, the most interesting thing I've
heard from starlings this winter was what sounded remarkably similar
to part of a northern cardinal call from one individual in East Portland.
