Yesterday I was watching several ravens working over some carrion in a field.
Periodically one of them would hop straight into the air, sometimes accompanied
by one flap of the wings, and then settle right back into the grass. During the
time I watched several different ravens employed this tactic. Any idea what
they were doing, or why?
