I read in the Birds of Oregon that the subspecies of cranes that migrate
thru Sauvie are unclear. Is there any new information? The latest edition of
the National Geo guide seems to indicate that the intermediate race winters
on Sauvie and that the larger race migrates through. I ask because Jan and I
saw cranes of two sizes a few days ago at Sauvie. The larger ones looked
impressively big.
