Hi -
I had some errands to do in Corvallis and Albany today so was able to wrap
quite a bit of birding around them.
Highlights:
Talking Waters (Albany) 1 drake Cinnamon Teal, 2 hen teal with tucked bills
that presumably were also Cinnamon.
Grand Prairie Park (Albany) 3 drake and 2 hen Eurasian Wigeons. An additional
drake may be a hybrid but I suspect it may be a pigment-challenged or
hormonally damaged Eurasian. I'll post a photo after I work them up.
Bruce Road observation point. Finley NWR: One of about 25 American Robins had
extensive white in its wings, and head and upper back were almost a
"Mockingbird" shade of gray. Striking bird.
Golden Eagle - 1 imm near main entrance.
Lots of raptors - multiple Bald Eagles, Red-tails, kestrels, harriers; at least
4 Rough-legs, 1 Red-shoulder, spectacular adult female Cooper's Hawk.
Most striking thing was dearth of waterfowl. Most winters I would have seen
flocks of Cackling Geese all over the place. Today I saw more Canadas then
Cackling. Relatively few ducks as well.
