As I was reading this post just now in my Jennings Lodge neighborhood two
Varied Thrushes landed outside the window about 10 feet from me. Throwing
leaves in every direction.

In my backyard, a couple miles north of Mt. Tabor, I had 3 Varied Thrushes,
foraging for seed and annoying each other (mainly the latter), right after
the worst of the snowfall. There was over a foot in my yard, but that did not
discourage the foragers. For a couple of days afterwards there was only a
lone paler VT. It's always a treat to see them, and to hear their spooky
whistles from high in the surrounding trees.

Jan and I saw a fast-moving flock of 40-50 varied thrushes at 8:30 this
morning near the area on Mt. Tabor called flycatcher corner.
The first year male common goldeneye is still present in Reservoir no. 5.
